BBQ Fab Friday, 6/23 3-4:30pm
Join us on Friday 6/23 at 3-4:30pm outside the MakerWorkshop to hang out with other members and mentors and chow down on some tasty BBQ!
Summer opening on Monday 6/12
Since we’re still in the process of shop cleanup/maintenance and many of our mentors are traveling at the moment, we will be opening the shop next week, Monday 6/12. There will also be a Maker Monday on that day. Stay tuned for an announcement of our summer hours!
Upcoming schedule
A few announcements about our upcoming schedule:
- Due to a mentor-wide meeting, we will be closing at 6pm tomorrow (Thursday 5/18).
- Our last open day of the semester is Friday.
- The shop will be closed for two weeks for cleaning and maintenance, and then re-open for the summer on Monday, June 5.

Birthday party Friday 5/12, closing early
We want to remind you about our 2nd birthday celebration! Come join us this Friday May 12 at 3:30pm on the lawn in front of buildings 33/35! (Rain location: Lobby 37). There will be barbecue and cake!
Since the mentors will be busy setting up and celebrating, the shop will close at 1pm on Friday May 12.However, there will be mentors around setting up, so we can still help with things like picking up 3d prints or buying stock. (Speaking of buying things, we also want to remind you that we now use the Mobius system for all purchases, so make sure you download the app!)
Closed 4/17 and 4/18 for Patriot’s Day
We will be closed on Mon 4/17 and Tues 4/18 due to the institute holidays.
There will be no Maker Monday during the week of 4/17.
Closed Mon 1/20; Maker Monday on Tuesday this week
The shop is closed on 1/20 for president’s day, and Maker “Monday” will be offered on Tuesday at 7:30pm this week.
Spring 2017 hours
The MIT MakerWorkshop hours for the Spring 2017 semester (starting today) are:
Monday-Thursday 4-9:30pm
Friday 11am-4:30pm
Maker Mondays are on Mondays 7:30-9pm in 35-308/310.
Fab Fridays (with food!) will usually start at 4:30pm on Fridays. We have some fun ideas in the works, so stay tuned for emails about those.
There is some new equipment that we will be setting up this semester (micro TIG welder, sand blaster, small CNC mill, Instron, surface plate, and more!), so be on the lookout for new additions to the shop.

Closed 2/13 due to snow day and no Maker Monday
The MakerWorkshop will be closed Monday, 2/13 due to the institute closing. This includes Maker Monday.

Reg Day (2/6) Maker Monday 1pm and 3pm
We’re starting off the Spring semester by hosing a couple of Maker Mondays on Reg Day (Mon, 2/6), in room 35-308/310. The training times are 1pm and 3pm. Each session can accommodate max 30 people and it’s first come first serve, so be sure to arrive on time.
If you are unable to attend on Reg Day, we also host Maker Mondays during the semester on Mondays at 7:30pm. Make sure to check the website for changes/cancellations.
